Can You Buy Real Casino Tables? How Much Do They Cost?

casino table illustrationWhen you visit a land-based casino, you go there for the gaming experience. You walk in, exchange your money for chips, and set about playing your favourite tables. For many of the games in the lobby, a table is necessary. Look at blackjack, roulette or poker, for example. All these options serve as table games, because you need to take a seat at the table to play them. Without them, the games wouldn’t make much sense. No poker game would be complete without a table, for example.

If you’re playing any of those casino games at home, then a lot of the time, a standard table will do. A dining table or a kitchen table can serve as an ideal baccarat or blackjack table. In theory, you don’t need to visit a physical casino establishment for gaming with friends.

Yet, what can make a nice difference is if you have a beautiful poker table at home. Or even a great blackjack table. All the markings are on it, you know where to deal the cards, and so on. Including a soft felt tabletop and other pleasing features, a game can be so much better this way. Is it possible to buy one of these for your home, though? If so, what kind of outlay can you expect to pay for one?

Join us for a look into purchasing your own casino game table. Here, we will take a look at the possibilities for this, and the cost of adding one to your home.

Things to Consider When Buying a Casino Table

If you were to visit Google, for example, and enter ‘Real Casino Table for Sale’, you would find a lot of options and so you can definitely buy them for your home. You can even find used casino tables from physical venues to buy second-hand.

Of course, different tables come at different prices with various things factor into this. Different games need different setups, and thus, need different parts for construction. If it’s a second-hand one, then the price does have the potential to be lower. Although if it is an antique option to buy, this may not be the case.

Below are some things to consider when buying a casino table.  Before we get into that it is worth pointing out the in the UK, for example, it is perfectly legal to own your own gaming tables.  It is also perfectly legal for you to allow others to play on them.  What is not legal is to run an actual casino and make a profit from any of the games, to do that you would need a gambling license. It is possible to use these tables as part of charity and non-for-profit events but you still need to check in advance how you should operate as there are thresholds and other restrictions in place.

Table Topping & Rail

There are many options available for you to select from when it comes to the felt on the table. Some of the lower-end options opt for the more traditional green felt. Yet if you’re looking for different colours (red, blue, black etc.), it could increase the price.

Sometimes you can get custom options as well, bearing a specific logo or graphic. These serve to inflate the price again. You can also get felts with a design enmeshed in them. A prime focus should be the smoothness and quality of the felt, though. It is natural to also consider the budget that you have at the same time, of course.

At the same time, you will likely want to consider the rail of the table. This runs around the table, so you need to determine if there is enough padding. Players will lean against this, so it needs to have some sort of sturdiness without being harsh. The vinyl or leather options should be of a high quality, too.

Shape and Size of the Table

craps tableThe game that you are acquiring the table for will determine the table’s shape and size. Yet it depends also on how many people will be using it at once.

If it is only there to serve a group of five or six people, then a standard circle or octagon may work. Often times, they come with table covers as well, so it can function as a regular table.

Hosting more players than this would result in you needing something bigger. A large table as often seen within casinos could be a better option. These can provide space for nine or ten people to sit at.

The Seats

Often times, these sell in a separate transaction to the table itself. If you do have a specific budget, you may want to factor seating into it as well. It’s always good to consider a comfortable set of chairs. Something that matches with the felt of the table would work well, right?

The Budget You Have

money with dice on topThis point isn’t a feature of the casino table but remains something to consider. The outlay you can experience for a table all depends upon you. You can find a casino game tabletop for as little as £30 in some places. Yet that isn’t something that a physical casino would incorporate on its floor. Someone wanting a more traditional table is looking at spending at least £160 – £200.

Anyone wanting a solid wooden table with proper felt and chairs etc will need a larger budget, though. These are the ones that land-based venues buy and install in their lobbies. High-quality pieces of furniture like this need higher budgets, of course. Thus, your funds should be in the thousands.

You’re looking at anywhere between £1,000 and £5,000. Something that is a lot more bespoke can send your bank balance into overdrive. Again, it depends upon the game as well. A roulette table requires a wheel, which is a super expense for a proper one. Electronic casino tables can enter into the £30,000 and beyond zone.

Casino Tables and Games Also Sold at Auction

You don’t always have to go for something new, either. Many people love the idea of owning an antique casino table and/or games. Auction houses sell off such items on a frequent basis. Sometimes, these options show up for quite cheap prices. Of course, this depends upon the condition of the tables and games.

A vintage 1950s roulette wheel, for example, is available at BidSquare for bidding on. Estimates suggest it will go for between $500 and $1,000.

Back in 2008, an auction appeared on eBay for a WSOP Final Table.  Harrah’s ran the auction, featuring the table and its original felt. This had been in the final, used by the nine players in the main event of 2008. It was Peter Eastgate who claimed the victory, securing his first and only bracelet. He was also the youngest winner to ever win the Main Event at age 22. Before that, it had been on hand for the 2007 main event, which Jerry Yang won. The starting price for the table stood at $25,000 (although the winner did get free U.S. shipping).

While it likely wouldn’t fall into the category of an antique, it is a bit of sports memorabilia. The auction came to an end on November 21 of that year. Only the day before, nobody had placed a bid on it. It is possible that the $25,000 price tag was too much for some people. It does reinforce the fact that you can buy these tables, though. At that auction, around 30 items were up for sale by Harrah’s. A dozen main table felts appeared within the selection, each costing $500.

Custom Build Casino Tables

Customer poker tables and cloths are still very much available. A series of different companies cater to this market, with masses of varieties for you to choose from.

If you visit Gorilla Gaming, for example, then you can customise your own poker table. Prices range from $800 up to $4,000 and beyond for these. Companies of this nature supply land-based venues with their tables all the time. Thus, you know that you’re paying for a quality creation.

To put it in a simple way, it all depends upon what you’re looking for. Yes, casino tables are available to buy, both as new and second-hand items. Some people even choose to build their own tables, which could be a cost-saving route to take. The difference is you’re doing all the work yourself and you have to buy the materials for it. For something of quality, you need to have a decent budget, though. Then again, different people like different things. The main idea behind getting your own casino table is to have fun with gaming at home.

You may be curious to know where to buy a casino table from, too. As it happens, you don’t need to look that hard. Finding a table is quite easy if you search for such online. A variety of results will allow you to locate the type that you’re looking for and buy it. Big-name online retailers sell a selection of tables for poker, blackjack, roulette etc.

The key takeaway from this is that you need to know what you’re after. Do a bit of research into the table types for the game(s) you want to provide for friends. It is important to remember that you cannot run your own gambling establishment at home. It is illegal to do this without owning an official gambling licence from the UKGC. If you’re only providing the table for basic games between friends, then it is fine. Anything beyond this requires official authentication from the regulatory body.

As long as you stick within the necessary parameters, then you should be able to get a table with ease. Budgeting for this is one of the primary factors to keep in mind. What you want from a casino table may not be what you can afford in the end. Look around and find something that both appeals and is affordable.
